Intercoat Sign Vinyl
Polymeric VS Monomeric - Which one should you be using?
Monomeric Sign Vinyl - 3800 Series
Monomeric Vinyls are calendered vinyls with a short to medium life which fits the needs of most customers. This type of vinyl is popular due to its price and the fact that it is ideal for flat surfaces, serving the purpose for a large portion of signage
Polymeric Sign Vinyl - 9900 Series
As well as its longer life, another reson for its higher price is that these vinyls will not shrink over their lifetime and have the added bonus of being usable on slightly curved surfaces.
All surfaces should be cleaned prior to application with an appropriate cleaner. Intercoat Sign Vinyls are easy to weed out and also well suited for use in Vinyl Cutters. Large lettering and graphics may be covered with application tape.
If the lettering or graphic covers a large area, a wet application may be required to apply a wrinkle free film. For a wet application, a light film of water with lowered surface (e.g. soap solution) may be sprayed onto the surface. The water between the film and substrate has to be squeezed out with a squeegee.
Due to Intercoat adhesives being exculsively water based, most commercial remover liquids will easily neutralise the adhesive with the additional advantage of cleaning the underlying surface with the remover acting as a detergent.
All of these recommendations are based on tests and practical experience.
